Service Description

Language Club runs for 10 weeks (during the school term) and is suitable for children aged 4-8 years. Language Club is a structured, small-group program designed to strengthen the language skills children need for learning, social interaction and classroom success. The group provides explicit teaching, guided practice and engaging activities to support both expressive (using) and receptive (understanding) skills. Each week focuses on a different core language area, allowing children to build skills step-by-step while practising them in meaningful activities and discussions. Sessions run for 45 minutes. The language areas targeted include: Week 1 - Active Listening & Wh- Questions Week 2 - Word Types (Nouns & Verbs) Week 3 - Vocabulary Expansion (Adjectives & Adverbs) Week 4 - Sentence Structure (Colourful Semantics) Week 5 - Sentence Expansion (Conjunctions) Week 6 - Grammar Rules (Pronouns & Plurals) Week 7 - Tense (Past, Present, Future) Week 8 - Irregular Words (Irregular Plurals & Past Tense) Week 9 - Concepts Week 10 - Following Directions Children are supported to apply new skills through structured tasks, games and discussion-based activities that encourage participation and confidence. A workbook is included in the cost of the program which is provided in the first few weeks of term. The workbook complements weekly sessions and provides home practice ideas to support carryover in everyday routines. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to attend sessions to hear strategies, cues and feedback that can be supported at home. Pricing is per child. Siblings are welcome to attend and may participate if space permits and they are not disrupting the flow of the session. NOTE: Hello Friend Speech is located on the first floor of the Pender's Building with stair access only. Free and paid parking is available nearby in carparks located off West Street or at Nicholas Street Precinct. A toilet is available onsite. Booking policy: Payment is not charged at the time of booking. An intake form and invoice will be sent to the provided email with payment options. A minimum of 4 participants are required for the group to run. If the minimum is not reached, the participant will be given the option to change to another group or to wait for the following term. NDIS Funding: Children with Agency or Self Managed NDIS plans can book in for sessions using their funding. Cancellation policy: No refund will be provided for non-attendance.
