Service Description
Lego runs for 10 weeks (during the school term) and is suitable for children aged 5-9 years. The program is designed to provide children with a dynamic learning experience that encourages participation and development of social and communication skills. Lego Club supports the development of a wide range of skills, including language skills (in both giving and receiving instructions) turn-taking, negotiating, sharing and collaborative social problem-solving. Each week the child takes on one of four specific roles to do this: 1. The Engineer - Oversees reading and relaying the instructions. The Engineer must tell the Supplier what pieces to retrieve and tell the Builder how to build the model. 2. The Supplier - Finds the correct LEGO pieces. The Supplier must listen to the Engineer and figure out what piece to retrieve, and then given these pieces to the Builder. 3. The Builder - Physically builds the model. The Builder must listen to instructions provided by the Engineer and receive the pieces that are retrieved by the Supplier. 4. The Foreman - Makes sure everyone is doing what they need to do. They provide help to other roles when needed and look out for social challenges that may need problem-solving by the group. NOTE: With this being the format of each session, a minimum of 3 participants are required for the group to run (Speech Pathologist can take on Foreman role). Mums, Dads, Grandparents and other close family members are welcome to attend the session with pricing being based per child. NOTE: Hello Friend Speech is located on the first floor of the Pender's Building with stair access only. Free and paid parking is available nearby in carparks located off West Street or at Nicholas Street Precinct. Toilets are available onsite. Booking policy: Payment is not charged at the time of booking. An intake form and invoice will be sent to the provided email with payment options. NDIS Funding: Children with Agency or Self Managed NDIS plans can book in for sessions using their funding. Cancellation policy: No refund will be provided for non-attendance.
